Some Important Upcoming Events

Hello all - there are three important events coming up that I would like to commend to you.

1. There is an evening lecture by Marva Dawn, on worship. To get a sense of what Marva Dawn is all about, go to this link. I'll be there, and it would be great to have some other people from the parish there as well, especially those interested in worship. I've read some of her work, and she promises to be very interesting to hear. It will cost $15, and will be at CMU on Thursday, Jan 18th, from 7-9pm.

2. There is a fair amount of conflict in the Communion, and a way forward has been prepared called the Windsor Report. The Rev. Alyson Barnett-Cowan, a Canadian and one of the authors of the report, will be presenting some reflections on what it means for Canada and the Communion. This is highly recommended as well - more of us need to know what the Windsor Report is all about, especially at the parish level. I can't be there - it is a vestry night - but let me know if you're interested, and we can organise a delegation. It will take place at St. Peter, Winninpeg, 755 Elm Street, on Tuesday, Feb 27th from 7:30-9:30pm.

3. Here in Canada we have prepared another document about doctrine and same-sex unions called the St. Michael Report. One of the drafters of this document, Bishop Victoria Matthews, will be presenting some reflections on this important report. I am very much looking forward to having bishop Victoria here, and I know that many of you are interested in her topic. Again - I'll be there. Let me know if you are interested. This one will take place at St. Johns Cathedral, 135 Anderson Ave, on Saturday March 17th, from 9:30am-2:30pm. It costs $6, and lunch is provided.

The Windsor Report and the St. Michael's Report are heavy but important reading. They are linked right here, on the right hand side of this web-page. I also have hard copies in the office.
